To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions pursuant to the Answer of 10 February 2004,Official Report, columns 1337–9W, on Hepatitis C, whether the proposed housing benefit and council tax benefit regulations to which he referred have been laid before Parliament.

The Social Security (Miscellaneous Amendments) (No. 2) Regulations 2004 (Statutory Instrument 1141 of 2004) were laid before Parliament on 21 April 2004 and came into force on 12 May 2004.1740WS
As a result, payments made under the Hepatitis C Ex-Gratia Payment Scheme to people who are infected with Hepatitis C are now disregarded fully when calculating entitlement to housing benefit and council tax benefit.
