§ Baroness Noakes
asked Her Majesty's Government:
Whether they accept the report Good Governance Standards for Public Services, issued by the Independent Commission for Good Governance in Public Services; and, if so, what instructions they will give to (a) government departments; (b) non-departmental public bodies; and (c) other public corporations. [HL1547]
§ Lord McIntosh of Haringey
The Government welcome this contribution to improving standards of good governance in a wide variety of public service organisations. The Government also provide guidance on good governance to central government departments and non-departmental public bodies.
The Chairman of the Independent Commission on Good Governance in Public Services has written to government departments inviting them to take the standard into account when reviewing their own guidance. These departments are well placed to consider the best way of doing this.
