HL Deb 07 March 2005 vol 670 c72WA
Lord Marlesford

asked Her Majesty's Government:

In which countries they believe that slavery is still in existence. [HL1514]

Baroness Crawley

We do not maintain a comprehensive list of countries we think are involved in slavery, either as traditionally understood or in contemporary forms, including people trafficking, child labour and bonded labour. But we do address these issues in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) Annual Report on Human Rights, which highlights a number of countries where we have particular concerns and describes the actions we are taking in response. Copies of the report are laid before the House and are available in the Library of the House, and may also be found on the FCO website,www.fco.gov.uk.
