§ Lord Laird
asked Her Majesty's Government:
On what basis a meeting of the North/South and British Irish Council on 14 November 2002 was informed that the Republic of Ireland's Department of Foreign Affairs considered that the role of the North/South Ministerial Council Secretariat should be preserved; and whether they will place the advice from the Irish Government in the Library of the House. [HL944]

The meeting was so informed on the basis of a verbal discussion between the Joint Secretary (North) of NSMC and officials in the Department of Foreign Affairs.
