To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Skills what the estimated intake in medical schools in Great Britain is in each of the next three years. [173430]

[holding answer 18 May 2004]: The available figures from the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) are given in the table. Data are given for English medical schools only. Allocation of places for Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish medical schools is the responsibility of the devolved administrations.
