To ask the Secretary of State for International Development what the ratio is of girls to boys enrolled in primary school in(a) Pakistan and (b) India. [172456]

Mr. Gareth Thomas: The World Bank 2003 Development Indicators record the following for the ratio of girls to boys enrolled in primary school: (a) 58 per cent. for Pakistan in 2000 (b) 83 per cent. for India in 2000.
