To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what assessment she has made of the likely change in the number of jobs in the retail sector as a result of the implementation of radio frequency identifier devices. [170163]

To date, DTI has not conducted any assessment of the likely change in retail staff numbers as a consequence of the implementation of RFID technologies.
