To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will list the purchases of wood originating from Tasmania the Department has made in each year since 1997. [164050]

[holding answer 26 March 2004]: The Ministry of Defence requires suppliers of timber to obtain evidence that the timber supplied complies with Government policy. The country of origin is not recorded separately and therefore the information requested is not available.
