§ Alun MichaelLancashire beef and lamb producers are eligible to receive subsidies under the Common Agricultural Policy Beef and Sheep meat Regimes (there are currently no schemes specifically for lambs). The table below shows the amount under these schemes that704W was paid to farmers in Lancashire in the 2003 European Agriculture Guidance and Guarantee Fund Year (15 October 2002 to 16 October 2003).
Any additional direct subsidy intervention by UK Government in favour of specific geographical regions is prohibited by State Aids and competition rules.
