Further to the Written Answer by the Lord Bach on 8 September 2003 (WA 45), how many of the 22 persons held at that date for imperative reasons of security are now still being held; where they are held: how many have been handed to the Iraqi judicial system; and how many are interned on the basis of intelligence material which is considered to make their case unsuitable for trial. § The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Ministry of Defence (Lord Bach)Of the 22 persons interned prior to 15 July who were still being held for imperative reasons of security on 8 September two remain at the United Kingdom's detention facility in Shaibah. Both are being held on the basis of intelligence material that justifies internment. Three have been handed over to the Iraqi authorities and 17 have been released.
