To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement on the future role of the Queen's Lancashire Regiment. [158263]

Mr. Ingram

The Queen's Lancashire Regiment is a mechanised battalion currently with 19 Mechanised Brigade in Catterick. They are due to be posted to Cyprus this month, with responsibility for the security of the sovereign Base Area and will carry out this duty until March 2006. Additionally, from April 2004 the Battalion will have a reinforcement role in Iraq.
