We shall continue to work closely with stakeholders to ensure maximum clarity on how these roles can be best used while not restricting local flexibility. The pending report of the Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary (HMIC) Thematic on Civilianisation and the evaluation findings from the £13 million suite of workforce modernisation pilots launched in March 2004 will add to our evidence-base of effective practice.
