HC Deb 22 July 2004 vol 424 cc402-3W
Mr. Rosindell

To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs what the Government's policy is towards the planned change in the European Common Fisheries Policy. [184261]

Mr. Bradshaw

In line with the UK's negotiating objectives we agreed important and wide-ranging reforms to the Common Fisheries Policy in December 2002. The reformed CFP provides a strong framework for policies and decisions which are more environmentally and economically sustainable. It provides for a stronger regional dimension, better stakeholder involvement, and better integration of environmental concerns. We remain committed to building on this reform.
