How many planning applications affecting playing fields have been referred to the Deputy Prime Minister under the Town and Country Planning (Playing Fields) (England) Direction 1998, detailing the Deputy Prime Minister's decision in each case. [HL3788]
§ The Minister of State, Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (Lord Rooker)In the period between December 1998, when the direction came into force and the end of March 2004, 138 applications were referred to my right honourable friend the Deputy Prime Minister and First Secretary of State. Tabled below the outcome for those seven cases that he called in for his own determination. Of the remaining 131 applications, 119 were left to the local planning authority to decide and the other 12 were either withdrawn during his consideration of the case or were awaiting a decision on whether to call them in.
