HL Deb 07 July 2004 vol 663 c96WA
Lord Moynihan

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What was the level of participation in physical activity in the north-east region prior to the commencement of the Everyday Sport campaign; what is the budget for the campaign; and what targets have been set against which the campaign will be evaluated. [HL3483]

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department for Culture, Media and Sport (Lord McIntosh of Haringey):

Approximately 30 per cent of the population in the north-east region are considered to be reasonably active; Sport England has earmarked £250,000 from its budget this financial year for the campaign; the evaluation will measure awareness of the campaign, intention to increase physical activity levels and identify barriers to participation.
