HL Deb 26 February 2004 vol 658 c78WA
Earl Howe

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Further to the Written Answer by the Lord Warner on 9 February (WA 130), whether they will clarify the number of incapacity benefit beneficiaries who have a diagnoses of obesity. [HL1451]

Lord Warner

I regret that my reply of 9 February (WA 130–131) is incorrect.

The penultimate paragraph of the answer stated that 900,000 people claiming contributory incapacity benefit (IB) were diagnosed as obese. This failure should have read 900 people and relates only to people who receive IB as a result of obesity.
