§ Miss Melanie JohnsonThe International Commission on Non-Ionizing Protection (ICNIRP) guidelines is concerned with exposure to electromagnetic fields. The mobile phone industry has voluntarily agreed, as a precautionary measure, to comply with ICNIRP guidelines. The Government have also agreed that mobile telecommunications equipment should meet the ICNIRP guidelines as expressed in the European Union Council Recommendation on the limitation of exposure of the general public to electromagnetic fields (OHz300-Ghz) of 12 July 1999. No Government body uses any other more restrictive exposure guidelines.
