To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what cross-border public authorities exercise functions in Scotland; and when he last met the chair of each authority. [154482]

Under the Scotland Act 1998 (Cross-Border Public Authorities) (Specification) Order 1999 (SI 1999/1319), 68 bodies were designated as cross border public authorities.

Certain other bodies are also able to exercise functions in devolved areas in or as regards Scotland in addition to other functions.

My right lion. Friend and I often meet members of a number of cross-border public authorities in the course of our ministerial duties.
