To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs what recent(a) representations and (b) proposals she has received from the National Assembly for Wales Government regarding the further devolution of provisions relating to animal welfare. [154254]

[holding answer 10 February 2004]We have been considering with the National Assembly Government further devolution of powers in the area of animal welfare and animal health for some time. Any such devolution will be subject to ratification by the UK Government.
