§ Baroness Symons of Vernham DeanWe expect Saddam Hussein to face prosecution before the Special Tribunal, which the Governing Council established to146WA prosecute senior members of the former regime. He would be tried by Iraqi judges, although the statute of the Special Tribunal includes provision for expert international involvement. It will be for the Iraqi judicial system to determine the timescale of the trial.
