HC Deb 09 February 2004 vol 417 cc1318-9W
7. Mr. Tynan

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what recent discussions he had with(a) the Scottish Executive and (b) the Home Office regarding assessment of cannabis street prices in Scotland. [152893]

Mrs. McGuire

Scottish Executive ministers keep in regular contact with their UK counterparts to ensure a co-ordinated approach to drugs related issues. Scottish police forces monitor the street prices of drugs across Scotland, which are subject to local variations and fluctuations, as in other parts of the UK.

10. Ann Winterton

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what discussions he has had with the Scottish Executive about the reclassification of cannabis. [152896]

Mrs. McGuire

The legislation governing the classification of drugs is reserved to the UK Government and is the responsibility of my right hon. Friend the Home Secretary. The Home Office is working closely with the Scottish Executive to ensure a co-ordinated approach to the reclassification of cannabis, which took effect on 29 January.
