§ Keith HillThe housing growth targets for Castle Point (and Canvey Island) have been determined by Regional Planning Guidance 9 and are set out within Essex County Council's current Structure Plan, which relates to the period 1996 to 2011. For that period, Castle Point is required to accommodate 2,400 new dwellings.
The East of England Regional Assembly is in the process of preparing new Regional Planning Guidance for the East of England (RPG14). This will contain housing growth targets for local authority areas within the region (including Castle Point).
