For how many criminal offences punishable by imprisonment the length of gaol sentences provided for in the legislation has been increased since 1997; and for how many such offences the length of sentence has been decreased since 1997. [HL924]

Records of changes to the maximum penalties are not kept centrally. A comprehensive and exhaustive list of all changes could be provided only at disproportionate cost.
