HC Deb 28 April 2004 vol 420 c1096W
Ms Walley

To ask the Secretary of State for Health whether his Department plans to contribute financially to the establishment of the second phase of the Central Point of Expertise on Timber. [167631]

Mr. Hutton

The Department welcomes the establishment of the central point of expertise on timber (CPET), and believes it will be a spur for widening the demand for legal and sustainable timber. Tenders for operating the first phase of CPET have been received by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and a contract should be in place before the end of May. Improved guidance, including advice on certification schemes, should be available by the end of August.
