To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many and what percentage of admissions to care homes of people over the age of(a) 50 years and (b) 65 years in each of the last five years for which figures are available were as a result of a fall. [127349]

Information on the reason for admission to care homes is not collected centrally.

The number of admissions to care homes supported wholly or in part by local authorities is provided in the table for the years 1997–98 to 2001–02.
