HL Deb 14 October 2003 vol 653 c113WA
Lord Patten

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether the performance of the Office for National Statistics is satisfactory. [HL4635]

Lord McIntosh of Haringey

Yes. The annual reports of the Office for National Statistics (ONS) report on ONS performance against its corporate targets. Following many years of underinvestment, the ONS has embarked on an ambitious development programme to improve its infrastructure to the level necessary to support a world-class statistical service. The ONS's 2002’03 annual report provides detail on this development programme.
