§ Miss Melanie Johnson:Good research governance requires that service users are involved in research design and commissioning to ensure value for money. "Involve", formerly "Consumers in NHS Research", offers support both to research commissioners seeking to fulfil their responsibilities in this respect and to members of the public wishing to contribute to the research process.
In 2002–03, "Involve's", allocation from the Department's research and development budget was £410,000.
