§ Mr. IngramThere is a continuing need to assess force structures in order to ensure that we have the balanced, flexible forces needed to meet the full range of operational contingencies. However, there are currently no plans to disband or amalgamate Army infantry battalions, nor are there plans to reduce the current overall strength of the Army. The White Paper to be published later this year will provide an updated statement of defence policy.
