§ Jacqui SmithThe General Social Care Council opened the Social Care Register on 1 April 2003. The first part of the register to open is for qualified social workers. The register will be open to other groups of social care workers once this initial part is established.
The Government plan to launch shortly a consultation document with proposals for regulating health care support workers.
