§ Mr. Mike O'BrienThe UK has supported the work of the United Nations Commission for Compensation (UNCC) since its creation in 1991. 25 per cent. of Oil for Food funds continue to be paid to the UNCC. The UNCC has received about 2.6 million claims seeking compensation in excess of US $300 billion for losses arising out of the illegal invasion of Kuwait by Iraq in 1991, the majority of which have been resolved. The Commission is continuing its work on outstanding claims.
