§ Dr. Evan Harris
To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many(a) cancelled operations and (b) delayed discharges there were in each NHS trust in England on the latest date for which figures are available. 
§ Mr. Hutton
Quarterly data are collected on the number of operations cancelled by the hospital for non-clinical reasons (i) at the last minute (i.e. on the day patients are due to arrive or after arrival in hospital or on the day of their operation) and (ii) on the day of surgery. Data are available in the Library and on the Department's website at www.doh.gov.uk/hospitalactivity/data requests.htm.
Data on delayed discharges are collected on a quarterly and annual basis by survey. The information is at primary care trust level and the latest data for Quarter 3 2002–03 is available in the Library.

To ask the Secretary of State for Health pursuant to his answer of 13 February 2003,Official Report, column 949W, on delayed discharges, what changes were made to the Community Care (Delayed Discharges etc.) Bill following the responses received from the consultation.

No changes were made to the Community Care (Delayed Discharges etc.) Bill as a result of the consultation responses. This is because the Bill was not drafted until after the consultation period, taking the responses into account.
