To ask the Secretary of State for International Development what action her Department is taking to increase the participation of civil society in poverty reduction strategies. [99340]

DFID provides support directly through country programmes and indirectly through Partnership Programme Agreements to build up the capacity of civil society organisations in developing countries to engage in PRS processes. For example Catholic Church institutions have played a significant role in the PRS process in Zambia.
