§ The Solicitor-GeneralThe Attorney General is leading the United Kingdom's legal team at the MOX Plant case before the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea arbitral tribunal. In those proceedings the United Kingdom requests the Tribunal to:
- (i) adjudge and declare that it lacks jurisdiction over the claims brought against the United Kingdom by Ireland;
- or, in the alternative
- (ii) dismiss the claims brought against the United Kingdom by Ireland.
The public transcript of the hearing, both in the main proceedings which have now been suspended, and in the provisional measures proceedings subsequently commenced by Ireland, are available on the website of the Permanent Court of Arbitration (http://www.cpapca.org/) as are the written pleadings of the United Kingdom and Ireland. A copy of these public documents will be placed in the Library as soon as possible.
