To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what plans he has to reduce his Departments underspend in 2003–04 from that of 2002–03. [112768]

The Ministry of Defence is currently estimating financial outturn to be less than 1 per cent. below total DEL provision. Planned spending for 2003–04 is set out in the Ministry of Defences Departmental Report published in May 2003 (CM 5912) and the Department will continue to manage the delivery of Defence outputs within Departmental Expenditure Limits.
