To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what plans he has to bring forward minimum employment and safety standards for foreign seafarers serving on UK registered ships. [125452]

Mr. Jamieson

The UK will play a full part in the current International Labour Organisation initiative to consolidate its maritime conventions in order to improve global observance of the standards of living and working conditions in international shipping.
