To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what steps are being taken towards Canada agreeing a free trade agreement with the EU; and if she will make a statement. [125081]

At the EU-Canada Summit in Ottawa last December it was agreed that proposals for the negotiation of a Trade and Investment Enhancement Agreement would be submitted for the next Summit in Canada, in December 2003.
