HC Deb 10 July 2003 vol 408 c983W
Annabelle Ewing

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what steps the UK Government are taking to ensure that those responsible for human rights abuses under the previous regime in Iraq will be brought to justice. [124111]

Mr. Rammell

We have always believed that those who have been responsible for crimes against humanity should be brought to justice. It is for the Iraqi people to decide how to do this, with suitable international help.

The Coalition Provisional Authority is establishing an Office of Human Rights and Transitional Justice, one of whose responsibilities will be to provide advice to Iraqis on the handling of these issues.
