§ Ms HewittSince the start of the financial year 1997–98, the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) has committed a total of £30.7 million in research grants to the John Innes Centre. This figure includes responsive mode, funding, initiative grants, equipment and research fellowships. In addition to these research grants, BBSRC also provides a core strategic grant on an annual basis to the John Innes Centre. Annual spend in the financial years 1997–98 to 2002–03 is shown in the following table.
