To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office how much money has been lost by his Department and its agencies and non-departmental public bodies through(a) fraud and (b) theft for each year since 1996–97. [92429]

The cost of theft and fraud to my Department, its agencies, and non-departmental public bodies in each of the last five years, is shown in the table. Figures for 1996 –97 can be obtained only at disproportionate cost.
