To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry when Chorley council area post offices will be ready to use post office customer card accounts. [87519]

Mr. Timms

Good progress is being made on the implementation of universal banking services, including the card account at the Post Office. The programme is on track to deliver in advance of migration of benefits to ACT in 2003.
