Mr. Cousins

To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what the total expenditure and share of GDP on(a) civil and (b) defence research and development was in (i) 2000–01, (ii) 2001–02 and (iii) 2002–03; and what the Government share of expenditure was in each year. [144004]
