(142329)Information about jobs in the public sector in the United Kingdom is compiled by the Office for National Statistics from returns made by public bodies. The latest available statistics are for 2002. The attached table shows the number of jobs in the public sector in each year from 1997 to 2002, together with the change from the previous year. Comparable information is not available for individual nations or regions.
