To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what recent discussions she has had with representatives of manufacturing industry on levels of manufacturing investment. [140948]

My colleagues and I meet frequently with representatives of manufacturing industry to discuss a wide range of issues, including levels of manufacturing investment.

In addition we receive regular reports from key industry representatives, such as the CBI and the Engineering Employers Federation, on manufacturing performance including investment trends.
