To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many patients(a) died and (b) had limbs amputated as a result of infections acquired in NHS hospitals in the most recent year for which estimates are available. [109818]

There are no centrally held statistics on the number for deaths or amputations caused by hospital acquired infections.
