HC Deb 09 April 2003 vol 403 c319W
Mrs. Anne Campbell

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what assessment he has made of whether the two-week waiting target for breast cancer patients urgently referred to a specialist by their GP has been met. [107659]

Ms Blears

Very good performance has been achieved in meeting the two week outpatient waiting time standard, with 98.7 per cent. (27,572) of women with suspected breast cancer seen within two weeks of urgent referral by their general practitioner in the last quarter (October to December 2002). Since the standard was introduced in April 1999, over 340,000 women have been seen within two weeks of urgent referral.
