Who authorised the decision to omit the playing of the National Anthem during the BBC Northern Ireland broadcast of the "Last Night of the Proms". [HL5933]

The Minister of State, Department for Culture, Media and Sport (Baroness Blackstone):

Decisions about programme content and scheduling are matters for the BBC. However I understand that the National Anthem was not omitted from the broadcast of the "Last Night of the Proms" in Northern Ireland.
