To ask the Deputy Prime Minister what his estimate is of the number of second homes claiming a council tax discount in each local authority area in(a) Devon, (b) Cornwall, (c) Somerset and (d) Dorset. [82969]

The following tables set out the number of second homes (defined as furnished and no-one's main residence) entitled to the 50 per cent, council tax discount as at November 2001, as reported by local authorities.

Some authorities have been unable to report reliable information on their number of second homes. These authorities are indicated in the tables by 'no estimate'.
