To ask the Parliamentary Secretary, Lord Chancellor's Department what percentage of new recruits to her Department in the past two years were aged 50 and over. [79307]

Ms Rosie Winterton

23.7 per cent. of staff recruited in the two year period between 1 April 2000 and 31 March 2002 were over the age of 50.

Broken down into the two separate years the percentages are:
