HL Deb 07 November 2002 vol 640 c177WA
Lord Kilclooney

asked Her Majesty's Government:

In how many electoral wards in Northern Ireland citizens were consulted on the subject of transfer from primary to secondary education; and in how many of these wards the majority of consultees favoured the continuation of academic selection. [HL6338]

Lord Williams of Mostyn:

Every household in each of the 582 electoral wards in Northern Ireland was consulted about the review of post-primary education. The average response rate across all wards was 16 percent. In 418 wards responses supporting the continuation of academic selection constituted a majority of those responding.
