To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what plans he has to shorten the runway at Machrihanish airport. [78833]

The Ministry of Defence has no plans physically to shorten the runway at Machrihanish. However, we have required Highlands and Islands Airways Ltd. to use a shorter runway in compliance with the terms of their current lease.
